FORMER TEXAS LONGHORNS TO PROMOTE iPHONE APPLICATION DEVELOPER

Lamarr Houston and James Kirkendoll to attend Application showcase event at SXSW

Austin, TX (03/07/2011) – On Monday, former Texas Longhorn and current Oakland Raider Lamarr Houston as well as former Longhorn receiver James Kirkendoll agreed to promote Austin-based software developer, Appiction. Both players will be signing autographs at the Appiction application showcase event at the SXSW Technology Trade Show on March 15th and March 16th inside the Austin Convention center. In addition to displaying various Appiction designed smart-phone applications, the event will also give patrons the chance to win many prizes including multiple Apple products and other giveaways.

Launched in early 2010, Appiction is a software development company with a focus on smart-phone applications. With over 55 employees at their Austin office, Appiction consults, develops, strategizes and markets applications across various platforms such as Android application development, symbian OS development, iPhone apps development and Blackberry application development for various businesses and consumers. Appiction’s application domain focus ranges from business, education, leisure, music, health, sports and many others.

Lamarr Houston is currently a defensive end for the Oakland Raiders in the NFL. He was drafted by the Raiders in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. While starring for the University of Texas Longhorns in his collegiate career, Houston began as a defensive end but switched to defensive tackle as a junior. During his career he started 33 of 50 games, recording 133 tackles and 14 sacks. He recorded 10 tackles and a sack during the Longhorns loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game.In 30 tackles during his rookie season, Lamarr had 5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. He will be a mainstay with the Oakland Raiders for many years

Austin, TX native and University of Texas wide receiver James Kirkendoll finished his collegiate career in 2010-2011 leading the Longhorns in touchdowns and receiving yards. In 3 collegiate seasons, James amassed nearly 1,400 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. His speed and elusiveness leave many NFL draft analysts to believe he will be an immediate contributor for a playoff caliber NFL team in 2011.
